Chapter 594

In Mary Geoise the Five Elders puzzle over Luffy's ties to Rayleigh, regret having made Jinbe a Warlord, and weigh replacing the three lost Warlord seats while noting only the Yonko and Whitebeard's remnants can check Blackbeard. Commander-in-Chief Kong then addresses Sengoku about the way he and Garp held back within the Marines, and the resigning Sengoku puts forward Aokiji as his successor.

At a rebuilding Marineford, Aokiji and Smoker talk over Luffy's actions and Smoker's wish to transfer to the troubled New World base G-5 in order to pursue him. A doctor confirms that what Koby sensed during the war was Haki. Brannew at last lays out what Luffy did: with Jinbe and Rayleigh he stole a Marine ship, circled the base, and Luffy walked alone into the plaza to ring the Ox Bell sixteen times while photographers captured him sporting a fresh Ace-like tattoo. Brannew reads it as a declaration of war.

Across the New World, Kid's crew debates the act, with Killer noting the bell traditionally tolls eight times to end the old year and eight to begin the new, leading Kid to wonder if Luffy means to forge the coming era himself. Bege's ship is hauled skyward by a strange dark globe. Traveling on a Kuja vessel, Luffy hopes his crew grasped his signal, and every member except Zoro apparently does. Hawkins squares off against Brownbeard, and Urouge's crew, robbed of their usual grins, is offered umbrellas near a lightning-wracked island.

The Five Elders note one Supernova has fallen to Blackbeard, later revealed to be Jewelry Bonney. Kong makes his first full appearance, and both Garp and Sengoku resign from the Marines. Koby is shown to have awakened Observation Haki, and Haki is confirmed as standard among vice admirals. The newspaper reveals Luffy rang the Ox Bell with Jinbe and Rayleigh and bears a new tattoo, a message his crew understands aside from Zoro. This is the first non-flashback chapter to gather all the Straw Hats since Kuma scattered them.

The cover shows Garp and Sengoku snacking on rice crackers, Garp building a tower of them while Sengoku's goat chews paper. The chapter also introduces the term Paradise for the first half of the Grand Line, and Pandaman cameos hidden in the newspaper photo.
