Summary

When Hody flings a Water Shot at Shirahoshi amid the charging enemy ranks, Jinbe nullifies it with his own and notes that Hody's grasp of Fish-Man Karate is amateurish beside his. The crew then takes apart Hody's units one squad at a time. Brook, working his violin, convinces the cannon team that a festival is underway and has them launch celebratory fireworks skyward, finishing the lot with Quinte Tierce Fantasia. Against the Iron Shell Squad, Zoro unleashes Kokujo: O Tatsumaki, a wandering blade-tornado that keeps slicing pirates long after it forms.

Ringed in by Hody's Sea Urchin-Armor Spine Squadron, Sanji recalls outrunning the okama by learning to fly, then rises on Sky Walk and shreds the airborne attackers with a rapid Diable Jambe. Robin sprouts a towering pair of limbs out of the ground to stomp the crowd, Franky tears in aboard his Kurosai FR-U IV to flatten the Deadly Poison Squad, and Usopp follows, firing from within the new Brachio Tank V. Hody finally tells Surume to grind the crew into paste, but the kraken, whom Luffy hails as a friend, betrays the master who once chained him and pulps the pirates surrounding them instead.

Key Events

A wave of fresh techniques arrives: Brook's hypnotic illusions, Zoro's longer-lingering Tatsu Maki, Sanji's Geppo-like Sky Walk, Robin's giant crushing legs, and Franky's pair of new machines, the Brachio Tank V plus the Kurosai FR-U IV, stowed in the Soldier Dock's fourth and fifth chambers. Jinbe's bounty is rumored to have risen past 400 million berries after he left the Seven Warlords. The enemy crew is revealed to be split into separate combat divisions. Surume, hauled from the North Pole and enslaved by Hody, frees himself and sides with the Straw Hats.

Notes

This cover marks the debut occasion of a major villain headlining the recurring From the Decks series, showing Wapol post-timeskip beside his newly founded Evil Black Drum Kingdom. For his first appearance since the two-year gap, Zoro ties his bandana back on. Hody is confirmed to wield Fish-Man Karate, yet Jinbe writes him off as a rank amateur next to himself.
