Chapter 781

The Birdcage tightens, slicing through Dressrosa's buildings as terrified citizens flee. On the rooftop, Doflamingo announces he will end his game by withdrawing the cage, which will shrink and kill everyone on the island within an hour. The Marines cannot stop it, and Viola confirms that Law has died as the others cheer Luffy on and Sabo races through the panic below.

Doflamingo taunts that, like Law and Bellamy, all of Luffy's friends will die before he does. Luffy charges, but at the last instant Law uses Shambles to trade places with him, stunning Doflamingo, and drives a Gamma Knife into the Warlord.

Law reveals he had quietly maintained a Room large enough to blanket the palace at the cost of his own life force. Because Doflamingo's shots missed his vitals, he had swapped his body with a minion's to survive, then played dead and whispered his plan to Luffy. His attack ruptures all of Doflamingo's internal organs without leaving an external wound, and he caps it with Counter Shock. To everyone's shock Doflamingo rises, using his strings as makeshift first aid, and moves to stomp the collapsed Law before Luffy intercepts the kick and the two face off.
