Chapter 89

Sanji plunges underwater to pull Luffy from the stone weighing him down, while Zoro squares off against Arlong, who wants to know who kept Luffy alive. Usopp tries to draw the fish-man's gaze by shouting and firing a rubber band, but Arlong stays fixed on Zoro. When Zoro slashes at his face, Arlong's hardened nose blocks the blade, which he boasts is unbreakable. A revived Hatchan, first spooked by the rubber band, grows angry and dives in to kill Sanji, alarming Zoro, as Arlong headbutts the swordsman's chest.

At the bottom of the pool, Sanji reaches Nojiko and Luffy and readies a kick to break the rock, but Nojiko spots Hatchan closing in and throws herself behind Sanji to absorb the octopus-man's rapid punches. Above the surface, Arlong hoists Zoro by the neck, rips off his bandages, and recoils at the gruesome chest wound. As he prepares to finish Zoro, the swordsman taunts that Hatchan's injuries would not have reopened had he stayed down. Underwater, Hatchan's wounds tear open and he faints again, freeing Sanji to shatter Luffy's rock.

Luffy's body rockets up to rejoin his head, sending him soaring over Arlong Park to the cheers of his crew, the townspeople, and their allies. He hurls Zoro aside to trade places with him and rains a flurry of blows on Arlong, dropping the fish-man at the tower's base. Arlong rises largely unhurt, but Luffy dismisses it as a mere warm-up while Zoro, hitting the ground, swears revenge. The cover continues the Koby and Helmeppo diary, with Helmeppo fretting over his father Morgan's fate.
