Overhearing the two heroes bicker over Metal Bat's poor showing, Sage Centipede abandons the hostage idea and resumes its hunt for the helicopter carrying Tareo and the wounded heroes. One Shotter, robbed of his specialized right eye and unable to line up a shot, misses the monster's head, and the creature snares the aircraft with its antennas, wrecking the rotor and seizing everyone aboard. As Garou is pinned by one of the monster's human arms and about to be crushed, One Shotter, steadied by Gearsper, recovers his aim and fires into its eyes, buying Garou the opening to break free.
Garou strikes back to cheers from Tareo and the heroes who take him for one of their own. While he works to pry the helicopter loose, Metal Bat, gravely hurt, cuts away the monster's antennas and surprises it. Roused by his Fighting Spirit, Metal Bat surges in strength, points Garou toward a large net five hundred meters off, and Garou flings the helicopter to safety.
Sage Centipede scoffs at their alliance and charges with its 6666 Leg Grand Drill. In answer, Garou and Metal Bat loose their own techniques at once, and the accidental combination not only repels the drill but splits the creature's hardened shell. Though Metal Bat is plainly the weaker of the pair, a strange resonance between them multiplies his power, letting each of his swings wound the exoskeleton even as the monster keeps knocking him back.
Riding that same resonance, Garou punches clean through Sage Centipede's body and rips out its regeneration core, shutting down its healing. He explains that he traced a spot leaking energy to locate the core, then hurls it high into the sky, and both he and the monster race after it. Spent and broken, Metal Bat collapses, muttering that Garou has to finish the creature before he blacks out.
