Chapter 74

Gyoro Gyoro uses its tiny spy drones to survey the wrecked cities and tells Orochi that their scheme to spread fear through humanity has succeeded. Waganma is dragged in as a hostage, and Phoenix Man asks for reinforcements, noting that heroes are cornering some of their monsters, but the request is refused. The monsters review their objectives and observe that Nyan and Gouketsu have recruited plenty of new members. Through a drone, Gyoro Gyoro orders Gouketsu to abandon the stadium, cautioning that arriving S-Class heroes could give even him trouble. Gouketsu retorts that he is being underestimated, says he intended to leave regardless, and tells Bakuzan to accompany him to the Monster Association's hideout. Bakuzan tries to challenge him, but none of his blows connect, and after a punch narrowly misses, Gouketsu sternly warns him against taking on the whole Hero Association alone before departing for Z-City.

With Gouketsu gone, Bakuzan broods over the existence of an organization packed with monsters stronger than himself. Suiryu, still awake despite his injuries, tells Bakuzan that he is no enemy of his. Bakuzan seizes him by the hair and admits his hunger for strength stems from wanting to torment the weak, then breaks both of Suiryu's legs. When Suiryu concedes defeat, Bakuzan cruelly offers to spare him if he licks his feet, and Suiryu answers by snapping one of Bakuzan's toes. Crying out to the unconscious Sneck and Max and clinging to the belief that hope always remains, Suiryu watches Bakuzan move to stomp on Sneck, only for Saitama to appear and save the fallen hero. Suiryu then looks on as Saitama steps up to confront Bakuzan.

Gyoro Gyoro declares the terror campaign complete and denies Phoenix Man's call for reinforcements. Gouketsu overpowers Bakuzan, warns him off, and leaves for Z-City. Bakuzan tortures Suiryu and breaks his legs, and Suiryu defiantly breaks one of Bakuzan's toes. Saitama arrives, rescues Sneck, and confronts Bakuzan.

Released in two parts on April 22 and May 11, 2017, this seventy-fourth chapter is part of the Super Fight Arc and appears in Volume 14. Its Japanese title, Zetsubo no Hate, is rendered by Viz as The Depths of Despair. The chapter is adapted in Episode 20 of the anime, with Gyoro Gyoro on the cover.
