Bulbous G

His mask is shaped after a Chinese guardian lion and crowns a towering, heavily muscled frame that stands well above the roughly 197-centimeter Sado. The arms flare outward as they run down from the shoulders and end in nearly cubic fists about the size of that mask. Gray skin covers the rest of him, traced by dark, S-curved lines that sweep from the shoulders toward the small of his back, and the void that defines his kind sits at the center of his chest. In the anime version those markings appear yellow and stretch farther down, reaching his upper thighs.

Little more than a feral beast, Bulbous G neither speaks nor shows any reasoning beyond raw appetite. Ordinary people hold no interest for him, and he locks instead onto whoever gives off the greatest spiritual pressure in range. His fighting is blunt and forward, sparing no thought for feints or catching a foe off guard. Resistance merely irritates him, and a serious wound tips him into a blind rage in which retreat never occurs to him.

When Uryū Ishida scatters Hollow Bait to open his contest with Ichigo Kurosaki, the lure pulls Bulbous G into Karakura Town, where he senses the potent energy pouring off Yasutora Sado. Crashing down behind his target, the Hollow swings at him again and again, and Sado, after shoving his friends Gitano Shigeo and Harutoki Ide clear, realizes he alone is being hunted. He flees toward an empty field to keep bystanders safe, only to find Karin Kurosaki already standing there.

Unable to see the Hollow clearly, Sado relies on Karin to call out its movements and act as his eyes, letting him dodge and even land a punch. The blow means nothing to Bulbous G, whose bulk lets him crater concrete and snap metal signposts with a single fist, and he answers by hurling Sado down with a gash across his head. The turn comes when Sado's own power stirs: awakening the Fullbring Brazo Derecha de Gigante, he blasts the creature's left arm clean off and sends it reeling. Crippled but too enraged to flee, Bulbous G rises for one last strike, and a second blast from that giant right arm obliterates his head and ends him. He went unnamed throughout the manga, gaining the name Bulbous G only later through the SOULs character book.
