Derella

Derella is a female monster whose entire body is fashioned from glass. Her scalp is bare on top, with a single yellow ponytail jutting from the back of her head. The glassy build and her name both riff on Cinderella, a nod carried through to her glass slipper-style motif, and Sailor Moon even calls out the fairy-tale link in her arrival speech. In the DiC dub her Cinderella references were dropped and her attacks reworked into ice, while the German version swapped the theme to Snow White yet kept the glass intact.

Jadeite conjures Derella after spotting the crowds of autograph seekers flocking to teen idol Mikan Shiratori. The Youma breaks into Mikan's apartment, seals the singer inside a cocoon of icy blue webbing, and takes her place. Wearing Mikan's face, she and Jadeite launch a talent competition dubbed the Cinderella Caravan, dangling a stardom contract before hopeful entrants. From the side of a truck they hypnotize a surrounding crowd with a satellite dish, sweeping up Mikan's manager, a curious police officer, and Usagi's classmates Naru and Umino, all of whom can now think of nothing but performing.

The finalists gather at the Shan Shan Plaza Auditorium, where a ceiling disco ball conjures the illusion of a roaring audience in an otherwise empty hall. As the entranced contestants perform, the false Mikan siphons their energy through a lapel microphone. Usagi turns up, watches the theft unfold, and flees to transform once Derella starts revealing her true shape. In their showdown the Youma traps Sailor Moon in a glass cocoon with her webbing, but Tuxedo Mask frees her. When Derella chases him down, Sailor Moon destroys her with Moon Tiara Action, and the captive Mikan is released.

Derella gathers stolen energy inside a disco ball rigged at Shan Shan Plaza. She can exhale a glassy substance that hardens on contact, freezing, smothering, or pinning whoever it strikes, and she assumes Mikan's identity simply by touching the immobilized idol's hand. Working through Mikan's guise, she manipulates a microphone and stage gear to brainwash civilians into joining the Cinderella Caravan, and a small pin on the dress lets her project a phantom cheering crowd.
