Summary

A flashback opens in an alley, where Shishiba tracks down Yotsumura. He lays out the situation: the head of the Japan Assassins Association has been murdered, and a returning executive who seized the top seat is loudly pinning the killing on Yotsumura, prompting an official order to eliminate him as the supposed mastermind. Yotsumura asks whether Shishiba was sent to carry out the execution, and when his former pupil hesitates and starts to question him, Yotsumura reminds him never to understand an enemy too deeply. The two then begin to fight.

Back in the present, their duel rages across a rooftop. Yotsumura fights with a three-section staff whose end holds a thin, razor-sharp blade able to cut through the beams of a car carrier. He hooks and disarms Shishiba's hammer with a chain and slashes at his face, but Shishiba leans away, deadpan as ever, and shrugs off the taunt about looking bored. A crushing downward blow caves in the roof and sends both men plummeting through several floors.

They crash near a pitch-dark attraction bearing the name Mother's Womb Tour. Shishiba calmly buys two tickets and walks inside, striking his hammers together so the sparks light his way. Yotsumura ambushes him from the shadows, and their weapons clash in the darkness before the fight spills onto a Noh theater stage mid-performance, where the audience mistakes the life-and-death struggle for choreography.

Key Events

Disguised in a Noh costume, Yotsumura severs two fingers on Shishiba's left hand and throws the cloak over him for a killing thrust. Shishiba, however, uses his dropped, mirror-bright hammer to track the strike and slip aside.

Countering instantly, Shishiba drives the clawed end of his hammer into Yotsumura's collarbone, dropping him in a burst of blood. Drained, he admits he is weary of always having to invent reasons to kill.
