Chapter 83: Genius Style

Shin needles Seba by parroting his boast about being an ace weapon maker, and Seba shoots back that they ought to be thankful for the offer. Together with Toramaru, the two head into the weapons workshop, where the staff snub Shin but light up the instant Toramaru walks in. Asked what he normally wields, Shin admits he leans entirely on his ESP and has never truly mastered a tool, insisting after watching Sakamoto that only third-rate killers depend on hardware. Seba jabs back that Shin's physique is nowhere close to Sakamoto's, which goads Shin into demanding a weapon on the spot.

Every prototype handed over misfires against Shin, and he writes off Seba's reputed brilliance as garbage. The workers set him straight, describing how Seba is first through the doors and last to leave, having churned out untold thousands of failures from which, once in a while, something remarkable emerges, the very reason they hold him in such esteem. Seba wheels out another crate for review, and Shin's eye lands on an enormous glove. It is the workshop's newest catastrophe, built to switch off the brain's safety limiter and grant crushing power, able to erase a foe in one connecting hit. Shin throws a few test punches to no effect.

Then the glove cracks and detonates, sending everyone running toward the noise; when the smoke lifts, a hole gapes in the wall along the line of Shin's phantom strikes. His arm glows red and he is hauled off for treatment. Seba reveals the flaw, a delay of several seconds before the force lands, which he calls fatal at close range, though Shin muses it could still matter to someone able to foresee what comes next. Elsewhere, at Slur's hideout, Gaku floats the idea of storming and leveling the JCC. Kashima warns it would be no easy task given the island's isolation and heavy defenses. When Gaku proposes handing the job to Amane, who mirrors his own younger self, Club Jam steps out of the shadows to announce the matter is already handled.

Seba's genius is validated through the reveal of a limiter-breaking glove whose immense power comes with a delayed detonation, a quirk Shin immediately eyes for his own predictive fighting. At Slur's base, Gaku and Kashima debate an assault on the JCC and settle on Amane as their instrument, while Club Jam emerges to confirm he has already set a plan in motion.

Rendered in Japanese as Tensai no Ryugi, this eighty-third chapter belongs to the JCC Infiltration Arc and Volume 10. It ran in the thirty-eighth 2022 issue with a late-August release. Shin, Akira Akao, and Seba anchor the present-day scenes, and Gaku, Kashima, Slur, and Club Jam drive the closing hideout sequence.
