Brocky

Walking upright like a hyena, Brocky had vacant orange eyes, dark red hide marked with black stripes, a flowing gray mane, two white tusks jutting from his jaw, and a heavy red tail. He stood tall and thickly muscled and wore only a pair of torn gray trousers. His shadow form recolored him head to tail, swapping the original palette for fur of black, a matching black tail, stripes that glowed blue, an under-jaw lit the same shade, and a mane of smoky black.

His true nature was loyal to the bone toward Rakan, leaving him stricken when his master fell to the Shadow Monarch, and bent on raising Gray, Rakan's final heir, into a beast worthy of the next Monarch of Fangs. The Itarim's conditioning warped every bit of that. Arrogance and cruelty swelled in him, his faith in survival of the fittest curdled into a belief that Rakan had simply been weak, and he persuaded himself that he alone deserved the Monarch of Fangs mantle. That conviction turned him brutal toward Gray, whose blood he began drinking for power. He carried the usual monster disdain for humans, freely using and butchering them to fulfill the Itarim's orders, though whether that contempt was original to him or a product of the brainwashing remains unclear.

A warrior of considerable power, Brocky ranked among the servants Rakan trusted most, and as a revived shadow he became the mightiest summon under Suho's command. His strength tore through metal and pounded Suho with fists, and Suho conceded he could not have won their duel without Gray's help. He moved fast enough that Suho only just reacted to his attacks, his durability let him endure Suho's Beast Possession onslaught at length before falling, and he could speak human tongues.

When the Shadow Monarch's war turned against their side, Brocky escaped the field with Rakan's heir and hid him beyond their enemies' reach. Before the story opens, Tiel discovered their hideout, brainwashed Brocky into his service, and ordered him to bring humans. Obeying, Brocky crossed over into the human realm and turned up in Korea, where the Hyena Guild struck a bargain with him to feed captured people to the Apostles. Once Suho exposed the guild's scheme, a long fight broke out between them, ending when Suho killed him; Tiel's spell shattered only in his last moments, letting his real self return just before death. Later, fighting rogue demons who were sacrificing humans, Suho brought Brocky back as a shadow soldier, and with the demons beaten, Brocky helped Esil drag their corpses into the shadow dungeon for Beru to inspect.
