Overview

Also called Rakan's Blade or Rakan's Fang, the weapon carries a will of its own. Anyone too weak who tries to grip it risks having their mind seized by the sword. It mirrors its maker, relishing the chance to torment the feeble and clinging to a survival-of-the-fittest creed while taking fierce pride in serving the Beast Monarch. For all that bluster it is also a coward, openly terrified of being devoured by even a weakened Beru, and it states that fear bluntly. It holds half-breeds in particular contempt.

Function

At its first stage the sword adds 30 to attack and is described as housing the ghost of Rakan, King of Beasts, which will possess any wielder of insufficient level. Its Contempt of the Weak trait locks a chosen target in fear for one minute, cutting all of their stats in half, while Mortal Wounds has a 15 percent chance to deal over double its fatal damage. After Suho slew the Grave Spider Arachne, he claimed a second fang and merged it with the first, pushing the blade to a stronger form: attack rose to 60, the fear effect remained, and Mortal Wounds climbed to a 20 percent chance at triple damage.

Notable Users

The blade glowed red in general use, with a black hilt and matching grip, but it shifted to blue once Suho claimed ownership. Victims it possesses sprout beastly features such as fangs, wolf-like amber eyes, and even additional eyes. Beru observed that the weapon was built specifically to crush the weak, a direct reflection of its creator. Suho relied on it as his main armament until Vulcan's Horn took over. In the webcomic the blade was shattered by Broki and drained of its energy by Gray, while in the novel it fused with its twin instead.
