Yor and Yuri's Mother

She goes unnamed throughout the series and receives only fleeting screen time. The manga references her as early as Chapter 2 but does not depict her until a flashback in Chapter 24, and the anime follows the same pattern, mentioning her in Episode 2 before showing her during Episode 16. What audiences see of her comes almost entirely through her children's childhood recollections.

Warmth expressed through food is her defining trait in memory. She regularly prepared southern stew for Yor and Yuri, and that homemade dish became the taste of family for the siblings, a flavor they carry with them long into adulthood.

War defines her story. Both she and her husband lost their lives during the Second East-West War of Unification while Yor and Yuri were still small, and their deaths left the young siblings to survive on their own. In the years that followed, the stew she used to make remained one of the strongest connections her children kept to her.
