Summary

The Princess Lorelei docks at the resort island, and Anya bounds off the ship so recklessly that Loid has to caution her. Spotting SSS agents in the distance sets him on edge until Anya, catching his thoughts, gets him skipping along like an ordinary father. Yor soon joins them, having received Anya's message and secured the entire day off. When Loid asks about her puffy face, she deflects with a lie about her cover job, and the family throws itself into the island's attractions.

Their itinerary is relentless: strolling the town, zip-lining, a tandem bicycle, cave exploration, horseback rides, swings, and sandcastles on the shore. At a petting zoo Anya decides the sheep remind her of Bond. Yor remarks on how peaceful everything feels, a sentiment the worn-out Loid privately cannot share, and she wishes the calm could go on forever. Whatever conclusion Yor is building toward in her head gets cut off when Anya spots a scuba poster and begs to see the fish. Yor frets that a bikini would expose the fresh wound on her chest, but a rash guard from a rental shop solves the problem, and she promises Anya the water will be shark-free. Diving gives way to surfing, where Yor forgets to restrain her strength and rockets Anya into the air on a wave; Loid snatches her to safety while Yor babbles apologies and Anya begs for a repeat.

Back in town, days of missed sleep finally flatten Yor, who collapses against Loid and passes out cold, with Anya following moments later. Stunned that the ever-proper Yor would doze off in public, Loid guesses her work has been punishing and smiles at how hard she pushed herself for Anya's sake before carrying both of them back to the ship. Home again, Anya reunites with a weeping Bond and Loid hands a grumbling Franky a souvenir.

At WISE's hideout, Loid briefs Sylvia on the bombing attempt. Numerous passengers traveling on forged passports have vanished from the manifest, reinforcing his theory that the plot aimed to ignite conflict between Westalis and Ostania. Since the SSS suspects a third party and will likely bury the affair to protect its image, Sylvia orders him to monitor Ostania's extremist circles before they can threaten Operation Strix. Asked how the vacation went, Loid admits it drained him more than his missions do, to Sylvia's amusement. At home, Yor, Anya, and Bond sleep peacefully beside Anya's crayon drawing of the family's cruise adventure.

Notes

Mission 56 is a 20-page chapter collected in Volume 9, released on November 15, 2021, with Anya alone on the cover. It serves as the epilogue of the Cruise Adventure Arc and was adapted into Episode 35 of the anime.

The chapter bridges the arc's spy thriller stakes and the series' domestic comedy, ending on the image of Anya's drawing of the trip, and its closing scene plants the seeds of the following arc by pointing Loid toward Ostania's extremist movements.
