Touka passes on what three ghoul children carried up from the depths of the 24th Ward, relaying it to Marude and Juuzou. Long ago the local ghouls threw everything at once against the being they call the Underground King. Their assault barely marked him, yet every strike that struck one of the eye shaped growths dotting his kagune blunted his own attacks. Once all of those structures had been ruptured, the king hardened into stone. Kimi adds that such formations cluster where RC cells gather most thickly, meaning near the kakuhou, and Ayato concludes that Kaneki's real body probably rests close to one of Dragon's eyes.

Turning to sonar readings and Kanou's records, Kimi hunts for a way to pinpoint him. Nishiki walks in holding canned coffee, finally standing before the woman he had searched for since learning Aogiri Tree had taken her. Kimi confesses she followed Kanou by choice, seeing no equal to him in the study of ghouls, and argues that engineering Kaneki forced the wider world to take that science seriously. Her hope is a future where a human like herself and a ghoul like Nishiki can share a life free of judgment. When Nishiki questions whether harmony is possible after all Dragon has slain, Kimi reframes it: Kaneki is a human wearing Dragon's shape, and ghouls aiding humans against a human made disaster is proof enough that the two peoples can coexist.

Urie steps away to let Saiko, Higemaru, and Hsiao recover, then confers with Matsuri Washuu. Matsuri explains that the fabled one-eyed ghoul once belonged to the Washuu Clan, rose against it, and was banished to the ward's lowest reaches. He suspects Dragon mirrors that ancestor's Naaga form because Kaneki's kakuhou came from a Washuu bloodline through Rize, and he admits he would have exiled Dragon the same way. His true motive for backing the joint CCG and ghoul force is vengeance against V, the group that killed his father. Meanwhile agents of V ambush the fleeing civilians and ghouls; Kyouhei Morimine barely evades them, Ikuma Momochi shields him with his kagune, and Takeomi Kuroiwa arrives to scatter the attackers. Watching Dragon from a distance, Hide and Touka share a quiet moment in which she admits she came to love Kaneki after he told her her death would grieve him. Hide's questions about a wedding ring jog Touka's memory: she once gave Kaneki her father's ring, which could be the marker that guides them to him inside Dragon.

The chapter's Japanese title is Deteku, rendered in English as Get Out. It ran on November 30, 2017 in Issue 2017-53 and belongs to Volume 14 of the collected series. The installment leans heavily on the theory that Dragon's countless eyes mark the safest points to breach in order to reach the human sealed within.
