Touka, Urie, Mutsuki, and Saiko stare in shock at Kaneki's exposed body, which shows no sign of life. They report his condition, and while Marude congratulates them and the CCG erupts in celebration, Hide sits apart in quiet sorrow. Marude asks that the body be brought in for analysis, and Urie notes that Aura and Hsiao will rejoin them on the ground.

As Urie works to free Kaneki from Dragon, a mass of tendrils bursts out, drives him back, and starts hauling Kaneki inward. Saiko cuts them away with her kagune, but one tendril detonates: her right eye turns into a kakugan and her kagune convulses beyond her control, sprouting growths like Dragon's own. While she fights to rein it in, Urie severs Kaneki loose. As they flee, one of Dragon's eyes bursts, and with Kaneki removed the whole creature begins to fall apart, its autonomous monsters freezing and then withdrawing back into it. Asked whether she will celebrate Dragon's end, Kimi says she will not.

Amon, Akira Mado, and Juuzou wait at the camp, where Juuzou asks whether they recovered Haise. Touka, the Quinx, and the others arrive without a word, carrying Kaneki in a body bag. Far off, in the 19th Ward, members of V move through the streets while unsettling scenes unfold: a man devours a corpse and mutters apologies, another shakes violently in bed, and someone else vomits, as though ordinary humans are turning into ghouls. The group reaches an intact remnant of Dragon where a woman drifts inside a fleshy bulb. She tears herself free, and one of the V members steps up, revealed to be Kichimura Washuu, who greets the white-haired figure as Rize Kamishiro and calls her his precious dragon.

The Japanese title Kitare, nanji kan ki shi no toki yo is rendered in English as Come, You Sweet Hour of Death, borrowed from the Bach cantata Komm, du susse Todesstunde, BWV 161. The chapter was published on February 22, 2018 in Issue 2018-12 as part of Volume 15, closing the Dragon arc while seeding a new wave of human-to-ghoul transformations.
