Summary

At the cafe Oasis, Yoriko Kosaka brings the trio their coffee and remarks how much Takeomi Kuroiwa resembles his father. Shirazu is surprised to learn the two knew each other as children and attended the same elementary school, since Takeomi changed schools often because of his father's work. A memory shows a Sports Day relay in which Yoriko, slow on her feet, fell and dropped her team to last place, yet Takeomi urged her to finish and hand off the baton, then sprinted past every rival to seize first. Once Yoriko returns to work, Takeomi, Shirazu, and Saiko head out as well.

Bench pressing at a gym, Urie deliberately tears his muscle fibers to spread the Rc cells through his body, recalling advice from Shiba that more Rc pathways bring more strength, growing alongside the damage the body absorbs. Meanwhile the Suzuya Squad wraps up a meeting on their case, weighing the tie between the Clowns and Aogiri Tree. Mutsuki relays what No Face told him at the auction, suggesting the Clowns may have known the CCG's plans beforehand. When Suzuya asks how Mutsuki addresses Sasaki, he explains Sasaki lectured at the Ghoul Investigator Training Academy while he was a junior student there.

Leaving the Academy, Sasaki runs into Goumasa Tokage, a former interrogator who radiates a dark aura and is disliked by the students. Tokage asks after Mutsuki, and once Sasaki assures him the young man is fine, he departs while cracking his left forefinger. At a restaurant, Kanae asks Chie Hori about the cause of Shuu's depression, and she tells him plainly to reveal that Ken Kaneki survived and now lives as Haise Sasaki, since Kaneki's supposed death is the root of Shuu's collapse. Agreeing to cooperate, Chie hands Kanae numbered envelopes to give Shuu in order, respecting his wishes. When Shuu glimpses the photos of Sasaki in the first envelope, he asks Kanae, still frail, for the details.
