Summary

Still in his wheelchair, Shuu Tsukiyama bolts from the estate and falls flat on his face outside. When his maids ask where he is going in such a state, he answers that he means to see Ken Kaneki. Kanae accompanies him and cautions that Kaneki has lost his memories and will not recall anything, but Shuu insists all will be well and that Kaneki could never forget him. Reaching the CCG, Shuu spots Sasaki, climbs from his chair, and runs toward him while imagining the days they could share again with Hinami, Kazuichi Banjou, and the rest. He collapses once more at Sasaki's feet, yet Sasaki shows no recognition and simply moves to help him up. Kanae, in disguise and fearful, apologizes for the scene and returns Shuu to his chair, shaken that the Gourmet would behave so openly before ghoul investigators.

At Uta's shop, the Quinx suspect their host is a ghoul and question whether the visit is safe. Urie assumes Sasaki knows what he is doing, and Mutsuki feels he has heard Uta's voice somewhere before without placing it. Uta measures each member and asks them the very questions he once posed to Kaneki, while Sasaki's plan is to have the squad wear masks and pass as ghouls to gather intelligence on the Rose case. Seeking approval, Sasaki asks Koori Ui, who flatly refuses, holding that investigators masquerading as ghouls is unacceptable and clashes with the image of a hero of justice. A flashback shows a dangerously unstable Sasaki being subdued by Arima, and Ui, wary and convinced Sasaki is essentially a ghoul, keeps his distance.

With his appetite returning, Shuu grows determined to recover Kaneki's memory. On the CCG website, Kijima posts a video of himself torturing the captured ghoul, boasting that he cut out the prisoner's tongue for refusing to talk and daring the Rosewald family to save him by killing Kijima instead, declaring that he is waiting for Rose. At :re, Uta tells Renji Yomo that he has become friends with Sasaki.
