:re Chapter 69

As Kaneki recalls his training days under Arima, Hinami Fueguchi races up and slaps him, torn between joy and grief at seeing him now serving as an investigator. Kaneki privately decides that his final task is to free her and then die at Arima's hands, certain no one alive can defeat the man. Arima, for his part, single-handedly holds off swarms of Aogiri Tree ghouls. Ayato Kirishima swings at him and misses; Arima answers with Narukami, and when Ayato dodges the lightning, Arima switches to IXA and shatters his mask.

Guards alert Shinme Haisaki that the intruders are led by Ayato with backing from Aogiri grunts and the Gas Masks, and that the freed prisoners are running wild. Haisaki decides Kaneki must be handled first. The doors seal and CRc gas pours in, and as it fills the room the guards begin slaughtering the invaders. Banjou, cautioned not to inhale it, pulls on a mask; his gang already knows the effects from when it was used on Naki, since it shuts down kagune and saps physical strength. One ghoul blocks Narukami to save Ayato while a second lunges at Arima from behind, and Ayato leaps off the platform with the others as staff are ordered to pursue.

Ayato remembers Tatara commanding Hinami to kill ghouls. When she froze, he did the deed for her and then kicked her, and later she thanked him for the cover. He told her plainly that she did not belong in Aogiri, and she explained that Eto had convinced her the loss of everyone she loved was her own doing, which is why she joined the organization to shield her remaining allies. Ayato comforted her as she wept. In the present he calls for the ghouls to lower their masks, and Touka Kirishima and Renji Yomo reveal themselves; Touka says they too came to save Hinami and urges Ayato to set his pride aside and lean on others. As Kaneki escorts Hinami onward, Nimura Furuta steps into their path and asks just what he thinks he is doing.

Hinami reunites with Kaneki, who secretly plans to die by Arima after freeing her. Arima breaks Ayato's mask with IXA and the guards flood the block with CRc gas, which neutralizes ghoul abilities. A flashback shows Hinami joined Aogiri to protect the people she had left after Eto blamed her for her losses. Touka and Yomo reveal they came to rescue Hinami as well, and Furuta blocks Kaneki's escape route.

The chapter carries the Japanese title 施浄, romanized as Sejo and translated as Administer the Cleanse. It was published in issue 2016-17 on March 24, 2016, and later collected in the seventh volume of Tokyo Ghoul:re, positioned between chapters 68 and 70.
