History

Helga comes from Jomsviking stock as the daughter of Sigvaldi, a former chief of the mercenary band, and the niece of the warrior Thorkell. Her father arranged her marriage to Thors Snorresson at the point when he rose to captain the Jomsvikings, and she gave birth to their daughter Ylva during those years. After Thors staged his own death and slipped away from the battlefield, the couple fled Jomsborg with the infant Ylva and settled far from the fighting in Iceland, where they went on to raise Thorfinn.
