Keenlyside led the scoring effort for Ocean Group's 2000-2002 English dub of Dragon Ball Z episodes 108-276, covering the Android, Cell, and Buu sagas. Working alongside John Mitchell and David Iris, he composed both the musical score and the opening theme, continuing the synth-rock style established by earlier composers while bringing his distinctive jazz and improvisation sensibilities. Their music was recycled from earlier projects including Ruby-Spears' Mega Man and Monster Rancher, demonstrating Ocean Group's resourceful approach to localization scoring.
Born December 4, 1950, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Keenlyside is an accomplished saxophonist and jazz flute player. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of British Columbia and collaborated with rock acts Prism and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he focused on commercial studio work and advertising jingles while also arranging orchestral sessions for major corporate clients, bringing his professional studio expertise to Dragon Ball Z's dub composition.
