Aya Hirano is a Japanese voice actress, actress, and J-pop singer born in 1987 who rose to prominence through major anime roles and has contributed to the Dragon Ball franchise.
Hirano voiced Dende in both Dragon Ball Z Kai and the film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, bringing the guardian of Earth to life. Her distinctive voice captured Dende's character across these important moments in the franchise. She also famously performed her own rendition of Cha-La Head-Cha-La while voicing Konata Izumi from Lucky Star, creating a unique crossover moment for Dragon Ball fans.
Hirano achieved breakthrough success as Haruhi Suzumiya in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, earning Best Newcomer at the inaugural Seiyu Awards. Her career spans major anime roles including Misa in Death Note and Konata Izumi in Lucky Star, alongside her music career with Lantis record label. Though she faced personal health challenges and career changes in the 2010s, she has continued her voice acting work.
