جوكو جوكو نو مي

Sitting in the Paramecia class, this power speeds up aging and decay through a touch. Its owner is Shinobu, the Wano kunoichi, who describes her ability as a ninja jutsu in line with her homeland's traditions. The name grows out of jukusuru, a verb meaning to mature, and the English term Ripe conveys the same idea of ripening. A number of adaptations call it the Ripe-Ripe Fruit.

A single touch drives an object into swift aging and rot. Turned on the ground, it carves out a pit the user can drop into to slip an attack, and it can bring down barriers by decaying them until they crumble or split apart. Creatures fall under it too, aging in a heartbeat. Weighty caveats follow. Decay, once set in motion, keeps advancing, so a pit may sink deeper until it opens onto the sea. Used on a person, the aging reaches only the body, leaving the mind stuck at its starting maturity, and nothing the power touches, alive or not, can ever be brought back to how it was. The standard Devil Fruit weaknesses fill out its limits. Her named technique, Sexy Ninpo: Kare-San-Sui, rots a ceiling she lays a hand on so it caves in for an escape, showering debris on anyone underneath.

Shinobu is the fruit's only bearer. She dug an escape pit to flee Kaidou's Bolo Breath, yet she holds firm moral qualms about aging living people, given that the shift cannot be undone and an aged child keeps a child's mind. When Momonosuke commanded her to age him into an adult, she flatly refused her lord and gave in only after the crisis turned dire. People often set this power beside another aging fruit, the Toshi Toshi no Mi, which can nudge targets either younger or older, though its results run temporary and reversible. Standing opposite is the Modo Modo no Mi, whose effect instead makes targets younger.
