Bansui Amatsuki

Bansui presents as an aged man whose purple hair is split by a pale streak running down its center. A shard of Hollow mask conceals his right eye. He dresses in a purple kimono over a dark hakama with a black vest, an ensemble that faintly evokes a captain's haori, and finishes the look with brown boots.

Born in the Rukongai, Bansui rose to fame as a researcher of souls and reishi, turning out inventions well ahead of his era, predating Soul Society's Shinigami Research and Development Institute, with the Senridama counted among his finest works. He mentored many admirers and took special interest in a young Kisuke Urahara. Convinced that suppressing Hollowfication could one day render the Shinigami's role as a fighting force unnecessary, he pursued research that Soul Society branded dangerous. Amid internal power struggles he was made a scapegoat, labeled a criminal, and banished, accepting the sentence in silence even though he saw through the scheme. The betrayal left him nursing a hatred deep enough to seek the destruction of the world itself.

In exile his resentment gave rise to a warped, self-sustaining version of Hueco Mundo, from which he engineered a covert strike on Soul Society by manipulating the flow of souls and mass-producing Senridama to track his enemies. A master inventor and strategist, he armed Hollows with anti-Zanpakutō gear forged from the reishi-resistant stone Shianseki, cloned Hollow guardians, and lured foes into sealed fortresses to wipe them out at once. He commanded the gates between realms through special keys, and his own Hollow form let him loose devastating shockwaves and enormous Cero-like blasts. His defeat collapses the fragile Hueco Mundo he had been holding together, unraveling the whole realm back into nothing.
