Daiji Hirasago

Of roughly average height, Daiji is lean yet well-muscled, his reddish-brown hair standing up in spikes. Old wounds mark him all over, among them a scar splitting his left eyebrow, another across his left cheek, and a broad one running down his chest. He goes about in a loose, sleeveless jumpsuit cinched at the waist by a yellow sash, with black guards over his forearms, gray wrappings up his calves, and sandals; a pale blue staff as tall as himself serves as his weapon.

Daiji is plainspoken, friendly, and even-tempered, if a touch full of himself. He generally wants nothing to do with the Seireitei's Shinigami and does not count Ganju Shiba as a friend, finding Ganju's chumminess more grating than endearing, yet he agrees to pitch in once Ganju admits the whole effort is for the sake of a dear friend. His self-appointed nickname, 'The Bull of Kusajishi,' he picked for no deeper reason than that it sounds cool.

In the anime's Bount arc, Ganju goes looking for someone who knows the Kusajishi region and calls Daiji and his crew out with a whistle, startling his companions when the gang bursts from the undergrowth. The next day Daiji returns with reconnaissance, warning that the Bount are massing thugs from across Kusajishi to strike at the Seireitei. Won over by Ganju's cause, he gathers fighters of his own and helps storm the enemy base that night. His gang is a small, tight unit: three loyal subordinates, Lady, Max, and Komae, obey his orders without question, content to wait hours on end for his word.
