Gunjō

Tall, lean, and well-muscled, Gunjō lets long dark hair fall past a face whose upper half is wound in bandages, with a pair of scar-like marks trailing down from where his eyes would be. Vertical ridges run the length of his armor from collar to shins, darkening to black at the bottom, and unlike many of the damned his plating carries no binding chain. Most striking of all, his forearms are gone, replaced by long tentacles that serve as both limbs and weapons.

Toward his foes and anyone dear to them, Gunjō is coldly ruthless, showing no concern at all for the trapped Yuzu Kurosaki. That chill thaws slightly around his fellow Togabito, and he lets real feeling slip when Taikon falls to Uryū Ishida. His devotion to Shuren runs deepest of all, and he addresses his leader with the respectful title Shuren-sama whenever he speaks to him directly.

In Bleach: The Hell Verse, Gunjō and Shuren snatch Yuzu and Karin Kurosaki from the family clinic, and when Rukia Kuchiki blocks their path he lashes out with his tentacles, catching her off guard before Ichigo arrives and severs them. Ordered to withdraw, he opens a gateway back to Hell, though a burst of light and the mysterious Kokutō wrest Karin from his grasp. Once the Soul Reapers pursue the group into Hell, Gunjō drops his cloak, gives his name, and joins the other Togabito in ambushing them, trading blows with Ichigo and Renji Abarai across the shifting stone terrain.

His deadliest clash comes against Rukia, whom he snares in his tentacles and whose Sode no Shirayuki he snaps in a single strike. As he tightens his hold to finish her, she unleashes San no mai, Shirafune, freezing him from within until he bursts apart, laughing as his icy form crumbles. Shuren later revives him and the other fallen Togabito from a lava pit, and Gunjō renews the assault, impaling Kokutō repeatedly with his tentacles. In the end he is dragged down into the lava alongside Kokutō and vanishes in a plume of fire.
