The Menos Grande

Most of this Menos is pale gray and topped by a skull-like mask that hides its face except at the lower left, where a break exposes a human mouth and chin and an unusually long tongue left dangling. A pointed, hood-like growth caps its head, and layered folds of flesh drape its shoulders like a mantle. Its upper arms bulge while the forearms stay thin, ending in nearly human hands, and a large Hollow hole opens at the center of its chest. The lower half, a separate creature entirely, is shaped like a spinning top; when the two split apart, the exposed top reveals a mouth, a pair of eyes with one eyeball showing, and its own small Hollow hole.

The Menos slips into the Human World through a rift and lashes its tongue at Uryu Ishida before it has fully emerged, smashing the pavement he narrowly abandons. As the Quincy flees, it gives chase; he shears off its left arm with the Ginto technique Heizen, but the limb regrows at once. The pursuit turns when the upper body vanishes, leaving behind the lower half, which is a distinct Hollow, and the returning top flanks Uryu for a point-blank strike. Ryuken Ishida intervenes, blasting the tongue away with a spirit arrow and then destroying the creature's head so it can no longer heal. The upper body drops dead, and when the top-shaped lower half tries to sneak up on Uryu, Ryuken finishes it with a single shot.

Uryu remarks on how strong the creature feels, enough to make him doubt its kinship with ordinary Menos, and despite its bulk it moves fast enough to keep pace with him and to separate its halves quickly enough to lose him. Its Predation lashes the tongue out with force enough to crack stone, dragging prey back to be eaten, while its High-Speed Regeneration can restore a lost arm within seconds, a gift that fails only if it is struck again before healing finishes. Like all Menos, it can tear open space with Kumon to cross between worlds.
