Yuyu Yayahara

Yuyu is a young woman whose deeply tanned brown skin and long blond hair, darkening toward the tips, immediately mark her as a follower of human-world fashion. She gathers that hair into a large ponytail held by a band of beads, with two lengthy strands framing a face set with light eyes and a small nose. Her shihakushō is heavily reworked into separate top and bottom pieces that expose her waist and midriff: the top ties across her chest with short sleeves that reveal the white sleeves beneath, while the lower half resembles a short skirt cinched by a white sash, finished off with stockings and legwarmers.

Yuyu is obsessed with the human-world gyaru subculture, going so far as to bleach her hair, tan her skin, and stay active on its social media. She idolizes Ichigo Kurosaki as the hero of the Quincy Blood War, and on first meeting him she snapped a selfie over his objections and tried to save him as a contact, while airily claiming she was mature enough not to mind if he ignored her. In battle she stays breezy and upbeat, treating clashes with Hollows like a game even as she deals out gruesome wounds.

As a Gotei 13 lieutenant, Yuyu wields high spiritual energy and considerable physical strength, striking with enough force to shatter the sternum of a Jigoku no Gaki while running along its skeleton. The name of her Zanpakutō and its release command have never been revealed, but in Shikai it manifests as her brightly colored fingernails, a form she prefers to keep active at all times for the sake of style, much to the disapproval of the other divisions.

Her signature technique, Ursine Manifestation, has her hold out her hands and curl her fingers to mimic sharp teeth, conjuring the apparition of an enormous bear's head behind her. That head is powerful enough to behead a Jigoku no Gaki or tear its entire body apart in one bite. She has not yet attained Bankai.
