Summary

Hunted by Sawatari's underground Doll Baura, Sado, Rangiku Matsumoto, and the injured Noba are nearly cornered until Noba teleports them to safety. Realizing they cannot dodge the burrowing beast by reflex alone, Rangiku hatches a plan to combine her Kido with Noba's Bount-tracking. She extracts Noba's Gikongan into his plushie, has him coil around her arm, and merges his red Reiatsu with her white into a shared pink pressure, then casts Kakushitsuijaku to pinpoint Baura mid-swim. When the Doll surfaces from a skyscraper to ambush them, Sado is already waiting and drives a charged blow into its soft underbelly, then blasts it again, forcing it to spit up a rescued Ururu Tsumugiya. Sawatari calls a retreat, and an exhausted Sado, who held back to avoid harming Ururu, collapses beside her.

In the Seireitei, Mayuri Kurotsuchi finally unearths the hidden Bount data and grasps why the enemy covets Uryu Ishida: only a Quincy can bind Reishi and force it into power. He orders Nemu to carry research material Q141, a Quincy Bangle, to the Human World, relishing what will happen once Uryu takes the bait. Meanwhile, an invisible attacker blasts open a gate Ikkaku Madarame is guarding with Shakkaho and, erasing all Reiatsu, slashes his cheek before vanishing. The Gotei 13 mobilizes to defensive positions, Byakuya Kuchiki is summoned from the Kuchiki Manor by a letter from Yamamoto, and a bored Kenpachi grins at the prospect of hunting the intruder down.

At a Human World waterfall, Uryu stands in the shallows and remembers vowing to his grandfather Soken that he wanted to become a Quincy to protect people. In flashback, young Uryu practices drawing and releasing Heilig Pfeil under Soken's patient coaching, learning that everything beyond the basics rests on the heart and that Quincy fire their arrows to shield the ones they love. Recalling Soken's murder alongside Yoshino's death in his arms, Uryu tries to summon Kojaku, but the bow and arrow flicker out, leaving him weeping in the riverbed at his own powerlessness.

Notes

An anime-original chapter of the Bount arc with no manga basis, the episode uses the opening Tonight, Tonight, Tonight and the ending Movin!!. Its Shinigami Illustrated Picture Book explains, to Rangiku's embarrassment, that Noba had to leave his more capable Gigai behind because synchronizing Reiatsu requires him to cling to a person's body, which would have meant wrapping around Rangiku's chest from behind.
