The 2nd Division Sorties! Ichigo is Surrounded

Ichigo and his companions burst into the Kasumiōji wedding to stop it, but when he calls out to Rurichiyo, the Second Division arrives and Suì-Fēng puts her blade to his throat. A brawl erupts after Rurichiyo denies knowing him, and in the chaos Enryū's Shikai levels the building, letting Ichigo reach the bride. He reveals Kumoi's scheme to seize control of the clan through her fiancé Shū Kannogi, at which point the supposed Rurichiyo attacks and is exposed as an impostor.

Suì-Fēng engages Ichigo, covering the escape of the fake Rurichiyo and Gyōkaku Kumoi. Kenryū and Enryū are taken by her division, but Ichigo and Rukia break free with help from Shū, and the three decide their best move is to pass Shū off as a captive hostage.

Yamamoto responds by declaring a manhunt for Ichigo and Rukia, assigning Shūsuke Amagai and Suì-Fēng to bring them in. When Suì-Fēng voices misgivings about Kumoi's true motives, the Captain-Commander only agrees to keep them in mind. The episode leaves the fugitives on the run and the wider plot still hidden from the Gotei 13's leadership.

Elsewhere, Izuru Kira brings his own suspicions to Amagai, pointing to Kibune's recent behavior and his apparent ties to the Kasumiōji Clan. Amagai is skeptical at first but concedes that something is not right and asks Kira to keep watch on Kibune.

An anime-original episode within the New Captain Shūsuke Amagai arc, escalating the Kasumiōji conspiracy by turning Ichigo and Rukia into wanted outlaws. Several Shikai release scenes appear among the assembled captains and lieutenants. The picture-book segment finds Tetsuzaemon Iba brooding in the Shinigami Men's Association restroom, prompting Ukitake to offer Byakuya a pair of glasses to help their cause, an offer Byakuya flatly refuses.
