The Burnout Inferno

After wounding his four opponents just enough to leave them as living witnesses, Aizen faces a towering pillar of fire that resolves into Yamamoto. The traitor warns that the Gotei 13 will fall apart should its commander die, but the old man only smiles and dismisses him as too weak. Aizen vanishes and reappears at Yamamoto's back, running Kyōka Suigetsu through his stomach, only for Yamamoto to grip the blade and reveal that the wound is exactly what he wanted. The entire fight, he explains, was staged to pin Aizen in this one spot, and he triggers Ennetsu Jigoku.

Flames roar upward as Yamamoto urges Ichigo, an outsider to the Gotei 13, to flee, answering Aizen's disbelief with the creed that his soldiers stand ready to die confronting evil. Just as the inferno is about to consume everyone, Wonderweiss appears in his Resurrección beside Aizen, and Yamamoto's sweeping fire simply dies before it reaches him. Knocked to the ground, the commander listens as Aizen concedes that Ryūjin Jakka is the strongest blade ever forged, one he could never beat alone, which is why he engineered Wonderweiss to neutralize it. He names the counter, Extinguir, and calmly bids Yamamoto farewell.

The seventh chapter and title piece of volume 45, THE BURNOUT INFERNO. It marks the first full display of Yamamoto's offensive power and the debut of Wonderweiss Margela's released form. The chapter was adapted in episode 294, Impossible to Attack? The Sealed Genryūsai!
