One Shot

In their monitoring room, Team Z minus Kuon studies the opponent. Iemon flags the Wanima twins, Keisuke and Junichi, as the real threat, noting the pair once combined for four goals against Baro's side. Isagi argues the brothers lose their edge once separated, and Iemon agrees that splitting them is the key. A freshly bathed Kuon then arrives with an upgraded scheme he dubs the three-on-three all-stars, a plan that leaves Iemon in goal and Chigiri holding back on defense.

Kickoff hands possession to the twins, who slice through the defense using the wordless understanding between them. Keisuke clocks Chigiri and mocks him as the prodigy with the glass knee, revealing that the two brothers once shared a school club with him and sneering that his playing days are finished. Distracted by his own taunts, Keisuke loses the ball to Isagi, who tells Chigiri to shrug off the provocation. Confessing he has no glorious history to lean on, Isagi explains he entered Blue Lock to sharpen himself and rewrite his life.

Team Z works the ball across the pitch until Kuon finishes off the move, and Isagi tells Chigiri that only who he is now matters, not his past. The goal puts Team Z one ahead. "One Shot" is the third chapter of Volume 3 and the 16th overall, part of the First Selection arc and adapted in the anime's sixth episode. It ran in issue 2018-51 on November 21, 2018, with the English edition on May 18, 2021.
