Taste of Crap

As the pair hurtle toward the Justice Devil's gaping mouth, Denji fights to veer aside, but the Falling Devil shoves them in, sniffing that food has no business fleeing. She asks the Justice Devil how fear-soaked humans taste, and in answer it heaves, spewing Asa and Denji back out. Weeping blood, the Falling Devil rages that she crafted the meal with love and obliterates the Justice Devil with a burst of energy.

Retreating from the ruin, the Falling Devil apologizes to Fami, admitting the plan to feed Asa to the Devils had been Fami's own design. Ordered to come back, she ignites and shrinks into a tiny effigy of her original shape.

Nayuta is revealed to be present, and Fami credits her with the Justice Devil's vomiting, since she tricked it into believing humans taste like genuine filth. Asked why her sister is hunting Asa and Denji, Fami explains that the prophecy would otherwise drown the world in Devils. Nayuta sounds receptive until Fami admits her real aim is preserving her favorite meals. The instant Nayuta fears pizza could vanish should the prophecy unfold, she flips sides.

Fami argues that while the prophecy is unavoidable, they might steer it to revolve around the War Devil instead. When Nayuta points out that her sister had moments ago sought to feed Yoru and Asa to the Devils, Fami clarifies she meant to starve the War Devil, whose powers she can command through hunger. She proposes an alliance, but Nayuta turns it down flat, preferring to go to school.

Part of the Falling Devil arc and collected in Volume 15, this chapter brings the Justice Devil's death and pulls Fami forward as the true orchestrator. The cast features Asa Mitaka, Denji, the Falling Devil, Fami, Nayuta, the Justice Devil, and Yoru. It reframes the arc's stakes around the prophecy and the rivalry among the four siblings.
