Summary

Seated among feuding demonstrators, Yoshida lays out the split: one faction wants the Chainsaw Devil treated as any other Devil and destroyed, while the other belongs to the Chainsaw Man Church. Denji admits it feels oddly pleasant to have people quarrel over him. Yoshida explains that the Church began with devoted fans and victims of Devils but has swelled with high schoolers who simply follow the trend. Because those students will soon be old enough to vote, politicians have started bankrolling the Church for their own ends, leaving Denji with little say over his own public image.

Key Events

To head off a possible riot, Yoshida lays down a stark choice: live quietly as a civilian, or watch Nayuta be executed. He tries to sell the first option by reminding Denji that an ordinary life was always his dream and that nothing about it would change. Denji refuses, insisting he wants both, since being Chainsaw Man makes people notice him. Yoshida repeats that Public Safety would kill Nayuta if he declined, and Denji repeats that he enjoys watching protesters clash in his name.

As Yoshida keeps warning him, Denji tries to incite his fans to kill Yoshida on his behalf, only to hear Nayuta cry out from the crowd. The two embrace, and Yoshida scolds her handler for surfacing her too soon, claiming he had been on the verge of releasing Denji anyway. Grasping the danger to her life, Nayuta urges Denji to tell them off, and the pair leave together at once, with Yoshida left wondering whether Denji ever truly understood him.

Notes

Part of the Chainsaw Man Church arc and collected in Volume 15, this chapter sharpens the political stakes around Denji's identity and the threat hanging over Nayuta. The cast is small and focused: Denji, Hirofumi Yoshida, Nayuta, and Meowy. It frames the Church as a tool increasingly steered by outside interests rather than genuine belief.
