Endless 8th Floor

The little lump of flesh springs toward Kobeni but freezes mid-air, held fast by Himeno through the Ghost Devil. Power cleaves the thing in two while Himeno reveals she traded away her right eye to call on the Ghost Devil's unseen right hand.

Climbing onward, Power teases Kobeni with a mock threat, only for Himeno to merrily threaten Power right back. At the top of the steps Arai realizes the signage still reads eighth floor despite their upward climb. He dashes down to verify and instantly reappears at the staircase's summit. Testing the oddity, Aki crosses through rooms and finds them looping back on themselves, and the group concludes the Devil's murky power has sealed them on this single floor. Kobeni starts to unravel.

Resting in one of the hotel rooms, the hunters reason that the fleshy creature was bait meant to lock them in place. Kobeni's terror spills over as she admits she signed on as a Devil Hunter only because the other option open to her was prostitution. Power cackles at her dread while Himeno tries to settle her nerves.

Aki points out every clock has halted at 8:18 and suggests time itself is frozen here, which would make any rescue hopeless. Thrilled that no deadline looms, Denji decides to sleep. Arai scolds him, but Denji waves it off and drifts peacefully into a nap, leaving the rest of the group stunned.

Himeno and Power kill the small flesh creature, and Himeno explains her sacrificed right eye powers the Ghost Devil's right hand. The group discovers the eighth floor loops endlessly through cyclical rooms and staircases, confirming the Eternity Devil has trapped them. Kobeni reveals she became a Devil Hunter to avoid prostitution. Aki notes the clocks are stuck at 8:18, implying frozen time, while Denji shrugs off the danger and falls asleep.

Released on March 25, 2019 in issue 2019-17, this Volume 2 chapter sits within the Eternity Devil arc and was adapted across Episode 5 and Episode 6 of the anime.
