The woman finally cops to being the War Devil, adding that her host is close to cracking under the weight of every life she has taken. When Denji presses about who had pleasured him, she agrees to say, on the condition he devour his own hand, which he gladly takes.

Yoshida is struck by how thoroughly Yoru bested Pochita, and he cannot grasp why Denji has yet to be turned into a blade. To that, Yoru says she has practically claimed him as a pet and is merely toying with him, though Yoshida urges speed. He spells out the threat: with the Death Devil set to arrive, every nation's lone shot at survival is a Denji stripped of mind and made into a weapon. Denji wastes no time leveling the pistol at Yoshida and squeezing, but it holds no rounds, and Yoshida taunts that forgiveness has not been earned. Yoru splits the species apart in her view, casting people as schemers and devils as beings ruled by instinct. As the waitress sets down their cake, she grabs the plate and flings it square into Yoshida's face. Told off for wasting food, she retorts that her devil nature gives her the right. To cap the scene, she aims a single finger his way and utters the word bang. This chapter sits within the War Devil arc and was collected in the twenty-first volume.
