Summary

Yoru's threatened shot misses Yoshida on purpose, leaving him alive. Smirking, she hauls Denji up through the gap she carved and out by the ripcord, promising to teach him how her kind amuses itself. Outside, a pair of bystanders mistake Denji for yet another Pseudo-Chainsaw Man, and Yoru answers by punching a hole through one of them. He erupts at her for slaughtering a civilian, only for her to brand him a hypocrite, since his own recent scheme hinged on a killing. When another passerby starts to raise an alarm, Denji deflects by offering to take Yoru somewhere to eat, biting down lightly on her finger to keep the body count from climbing as he steers her clear of the gathering crowd.

Key Events

At the ManMan Chinese restaurant, now reduced to a wreck, Yoru digs frozen potstickers out of the freezer and volunteers to cook. The manager storms out brandishing a cleaver and threatening police, but Yoru cuts him down before Denji can defuse the moment. True to her word, she fries the dumplings, and the two soon eat together under the moon while a fire spreads around them. Denji wonders aloud whether he will ever face the devil who saddled him with infamy, and Yoru figures he probably will when the Death Devil descends, since powerful devils turn up to greet her summoning.

Notes

Asked whether the next Control Devil might appear, Yoru doubts the new one will resemble Nayuta. Denji brings up his standing promise to the Blood Devil, hoping to befriend her reincarnation, admitting that despite her prickliness he had a good time with her. He grieves that she will not be the same person and reflects that Yoru and Asa may be the only friends he has left. When Yoru points out that she is openly trying to forge him into a weapon, he still agrees, saying he feels like he is having fun right now. Caught off guard, she scoots between his legs and teasingly asks whether he is enjoying this too. The chapter runs in the War Devil arc and Volume 21.
