Chapter 193: Burning Kiss

Straddling Denji, Yoru mocks him as pitiful for both losing his family and being ruled by his urges. She tells the boy he is little more than clay she can mold simply because she chooses to be kind to him. Studying his face, she admits she enjoys his wretched look and that a part of her genuinely wants to help him. When he asks whether helping might mean grinding on his lap, she declines, claiming the rest of her finds him even more pathetic when refused what he craves.

Denji asks if she hates him, and she explains that because Asa loves him and the two of them share one brain, she loves him as well. He presses for confirmation, and when she gives it he breaks into tears. Yoru declares she wants to watch him weep, but he answers that he is just relieved someone still cares for him. She cups his face and kisses him deeply, then pulls back to ask whether he truly insists on sleeping with her. He nods.

With the fire creeping nearer, Yoru lays out her revised bargain: beat the Death Devil and Denji earns the night with her, but fail and he becomes the weapon she will wield against Death instead. The kiss and the ultimatum tie the chapter's emotional and tactical threads together, keeping Denji's cooperation bound to Yoru's larger goal. The installment is part of the War Devil arc and collected in Volume 21, with only Yoru and Denji present in person.
