Chapter 211: War, Panties, Chainsaw

Within the hidden classroom, Denji asks whether the Death Devil carried him there, and she credits help from the genuine Famine Devil. With the true Fami visible on the floor, Death confirms which devil is which to settle any mix-up. Still doubtful, Denji wants to know where Asa and Yoru have gone. As rain starts and she turns away, Death recounts that Yoru swelled far beyond expectation once war-dread spiked, the fear sparked by America's clash with the Soviets resurrecting nuclear arms. Death does not know exactly where Yoru is but reveals she is slaughtering freely, amassing a huge devil army, and means to wipe Death out by wielding Denji as a weapon. When Denji asks what erasing death would do, she explains it would yield a world where nothing alive can perish by any means.

Put plainly, Yoru aims to lock the planet into a World War II that never stops, every deathless person forever wounding and hating the rest. Death mourns that her ability was supposed to trigger on Prophecy's day, yet her attempts to prevent that twisted the future into something grimmer. Denji stays unconvinced until Miri Sugo vouches for her honesty. Cautioning that the War Devil is about to appear, Miri suggests Death bare her stomach so Denji will trust her, then begs him to cooperate and help stop Yoru from dragging humanity into ceaseless, deathless war. The sight of Death's panties seals it, and Denji agrees to join them for now.

The Death Devil tells Denji that Yoru, empowered by reborn nuclear arms, is building a devil army to erase death itself and trap humanity in an unending, deathless World War II, with Denji intended as the weapon against her. Miri Sugo confirms the warning and has Death expose her belly to win Denji's trust. Convinced by the gesture, Denji agrees to work with them for the moment.

Opening Volume 23, the chapter carries the Japanese title Sensō, Pantsu, Chensō and lays out the stakes of Yoru's endgame. It cements the split identities of the Death and Famine Devils. The cast includes Denji, the Death Devil, Yoru, the Famine Devil, Asa Mitaka, and Miri Sugo.
