Ultimate Armor

Reading Denji's shift into a crimson form rather than a black one, Yoru decides she has no reason to engage him and tells him to back off. He answers by launching four chains that bury themselves in the surrounding structures. She belittles the move as clumsy and untrained, but the insult curdles when Denji hauls the chains back, dragging the severed heads of multiple devils into his own body and bolting them on as plating. Several of the captured heads belong to devils Yoru had recently befriended, the Moray Eel Devil among them. Denji needles her, saying he heard about her new companions and decided to wear them.

Pushing forward, Yoru tries to fire back but instead blasts the Moray Eel Devil's head by mistake. She freezes, telling Denji that he has gone too far and will answer for it. He throws her words back, observing that she now knows the sting of losing a friend, and that the ache sharpens as one's circle of friends thins. Before the meaning fully lands, she watches Denji swallow the Moray Eel Devil whole and mock its flavor. Sick with grief, Yoru fires again, only for Denji to slip the shot with ease. Perched atop a building, he orders her to give Asa's body back, promising to keep eating her allies otherwise. Cursing, Yoru forces her hand upward, and a vast fissure splits open across the moon below the planted American flag.

Denji's transformed body is shown to be red instead of black, leading Yoru to call off her attack. He embeds chains into the city, then retracts them to graft the heads of slain devils onto himself as armor. He devours the Moray Eel Devil after Yoru accidentally shoots its head, then dodges her grief-fueled retaliation. Demanding the return of Asa's body, he threatens to continue eating Yoru's allies. Yoru responds by beginning to convert the moon's American flag into a weapon, cracking the moon in the process.

The chapter belongs to Volume 24 and the War Devil arc. Pochita, Asa Mitaka, and the Lion Devil appear in supporting capacity, while the Moray Eel Devil is killed during the fight. The closing image of the fractured moon sets up Yoru's flag-spear assault that follows in the next chapter.
