Moon, Spear, Spear

Denji listens as Yoru spells out her plan: the Stars and Stripes planted on the moon will become a spear, and because America lays claim to it, that ownership doubles as a tracking signal. With the weapon shaped, she throws. It whistles past him and collapses the structure under his feet, then curves back for a second run. This time the point buries itself in the Lion Devil, whose cries for rescue Yoru waves away; she instead pins the wound on Denji. Bewildered, he gets no chance to argue as she drives the spear after him once more. Each blow wears him down until a thought strikes and he sprints for Fourth East High School. The weapon catches him again at the gates while Yoru jeers that the instant she finds him shattered and groaning in the dirt, the fight is hers, letting her bend him to her will and ignite her dream of endless human war.

But when she climbs onto the rooftop, the War Devil's legs buckle and she cannot fathom why movement had come so easily a moment before. The truth surfaces: Denji has already swallowed the Leg Devil, fed a steady supply of pawns by Death, who believes she is acting as his ally. He warns Yoru that he will keep eating devils and tearing apart her flawless world unless she hands Asa back her body, leaving the once-mighty War Devil reduced to begging the very enemy she meant to crush.

Yoru weaponizes the moon's American flag as a self-guiding spear and hurls it at Denji, who dodges while the Lion Devil takes the hit instead. Driven to flee, Denji races for Fourth East High School under a barrage of strikes. On the rooftop Yoru abruptly collapses; the cause is Denji's hidden consumption of the Leg Devil, delivered through Death's pawns. He orders her to return Asa's body, and the cornered War Devil is left pleading for him to stop.

Part of Volume 24 and the War Devil arc, this installment exposes Death Devil's quiet scheme of supplying Denji with devils to eat, which hands him the leverage to freeze Yoru in place. Asa Mitaka, the Lion Devil, and the devoured Leg Devil fill out the supporting cast.
