Summary

Catching the scent of medicine, tobacco, and cosmetics on the adults, the Bat Devil settles on eating children instead, finding their smell more appealing. Power tries to hold him to their bargain and demands Meowy back, but he punishes her for delivering foul blood by gulping the cat down whole. A flashback reveals how Power first found the scrawny but appetizing animal, fed it cow milk to fatten it, named it, and grew unexpectedly fond of a creature she would normally have killed without thought. That attachment is what the Bat Devil exploited, snatching Meowy and ordering Power to fetch him human blood.

With Meowy gone, Power confides in Denji that she finally grasps the ache of being unable to hold a beloved pet, the same way he can no longer touch Pochita. The Bat Devil scoops her up and swallows her too, dislikes her flavor, and turns toward the city to hunt children. Mid-flight he realizes Denji is latched onto his leg, drinking his blood. Remembering the relief he once felt finding Pochita after fearing a devil had eaten him, and wondering how Power suffered the night she lost Meowy, Denji yanks his cord, becomes Chainsaw Man, and starts shredding the devil's arm.
