The 70th chapter of Chainsaw Man ends the International Assassins arc as Quanxi's allies and Makima dismantle Santa Claus and her global doll network, leaving a planet of people stuck murmuring one word.
While Denji patches himself up with a doll's blood, Santa Claus boasts that she keeps puppet armies posted worldwide and, backed by the Darkness Devil, can pursue him and his loved ones without end. Denji smugly invokes his immortality, only for Quanxi to lop off his head. Quanxi then asks Cosmo, who has drifted unnoticed through the city the whole time, to turn her power on Santa Claus.
Santa Claus wakes inside an infinite library within her own mind, spots Cosmo at a table, and scoffs that mental assaults are useless given her consciousness is spread across countless dolls. Introducing herself as the Cosmos Fiend, Cosmo describes her gift: granting a person absolute comprehension of the entire universe, an experience so crushing that the recipient collapses into a near-vegetative haze, able only to repeat the word Halloween until death. Santa Claus tumbles through the library as her real body crumbles to dust, mouthing Halloween over and over.
Yoshida and Kishibe arrive and Quanxi moves to fight, but the two don blindfolds and Makima steps out between them with a sword. Quanxi instantly surrenders, offering anything to spare Cosmo and Tsugihagi, yet Makima beheads them without pause. A broadcast reports that dolls everywhere, including Aldo, now shuffle about repeating Halloween with anguish in their eyes. Yoshida takes off his blindfold and asks why Kishibe keeps his on; Kishibe answers that he does not want to see a thing.
Quanxi decapitates Denji to silence him, then directs Cosmo against Santa Claus. Cosmo reveals herself as the Cosmos Fiend and uses her power to reduce Santa Claus to dust muttering Halloween, ending her threat. Makima emerges from behind Yoshida and Kishibe's blindfolds and kills Quanxi, Cosmo, and Tsugihagi despite Quanxi's surrender. The Cosmos Fiend's effect locks dolls across the globe, including Aldo, into the same Halloween trance.
The chapter closes the International Assassins arc and runs in Volume 8. Cosmo, Tsugihagi, and Quanxi all meet their deaths here. Kishibe's refusal to remove his blindfold hints at how unsettling Makima truly is to those who know her.
