Summary

With the Evil Eye wearing Jiji's body and the Tsuchinoko flooding the lair with venom, Okarun decides he cannot abandon his friend underground. He sends Momo up alone, launching her toward the ceiling with the strength of his cursed legs, and she hauls herself the rest of the way using her powers. Above ground, Momo recalls a childhood lesson from Jiji about worms drowning in flooded soil and drying under the sun, and she engineers a rescue by setting a house ablaze to summon firefighters. Below, Okarun trades blows with the spirit before crushing him.

Key Events

The Evil Eye seals Okarun inside a grudge-built cursed house and beats him for sport, taunting him with threats against Momo. Enraged, Okarun grips the spirit's face and answers with a flurry of squat-powered punches that shatter the prison and knock the yokai out. On the surface, Momo persuades the firefighters to hose the ground, and the trembling earth gives up the Tsuchinoko, which she drives into the open with a hurled fire truck. The exposed worm shrivels and dies under the punishing sun, then convulses and disgorges the entire Kito Family alive from its belly. The matriarch scolds Momo for killing their sacred beast even after nearly being digested.

Notes

The episode draws from Chapters 42 through 45 of the manga and remains within the Cursed House Arc. Okarun frames the spirit's misdeeds as a running tally, naming the offenses of harming Momo, hijacking Jiji's body, and finally enraging him. Tetsuya Wakano handled both direction and storyboard. The closing beat sets up the next crisis as a nearby volcano erupts in the distance, witnessed by Momo and the freed Kito Family.
