Summary

A careless rinse of cold water unleashes the Evil Eye late at night, wrecking the Ayase home before Momo douses Jiji back to normal with hot water. Seiko's hired musicians, the hayashi, arrive and are nearly mistaken for intruders. Their performance begins to draw the spirit out, its music resonating with the household and the local ghosts alike. As the exorcism bites, Jiji cries for it to stop, pitying the Evil Eye once he glimpses its tragic past and pledging to be more careful around cold water.

Key Events

Moved by Jiji's sincerity, Seiko cancels the ritual and declares she will welcome the Evil Eye into the family. Okarun steps up, vowing to grow stronger and take responsibility for his friend, which inspires Momo and a reluctant Aira to commit as well. The moment is broken when rain begins to fall, reawakening the spirit, who punches Okarun into the house. Afterward Seiko starts training Jiji to control his ki through seiza, explaining that mastering his spiritual power will let him hold the Evil Eye in check. Okarun quietly resolves to follow Seiko's example of kindness after recalling how she once refused his money and told him to repay her by helping others.

Notes

The episode is set in the Evil Eye Arc and adapts Chapters 52 through 54. The hayashi guitarist's setup is staged as a shot-for-shot homage to the opening of Back to the Future. To fund house repairs, Momo takes a part-time job at Ririna's restaurant, which turns out to be a maid café, leaving both her and a visiting Okarun flustered when he sees her in uniform.
