Summary

An attempted exorcism at Seiko's house fails, with the Evil Eye mocking the group from inside Taro. Over a shared meal of oden, the crew puzzles over how to free Jiji until Taro suddenly speaks in the boy's voice. Seiko, wary of a trick, has Taro open his face without breaking the seal, and Jiji emerges restored. She works out the cause: cold water summons the Evil Eye, while hot liquid, like the oden broth, brings Jiji back. Momo and Okarun are handed thermoses of hot water as a safeguard.

Key Events

Seiko decides she and Manjiro will watch Jiji while he remains in Kamigoe City, and Turbo Granny warns that the group has only narrowly avoided disaster since the possession is still young. The Dover Demon's real name turns out to be Peeny-Weeny, though everyone keeps calling him Mantisian. A hospital visit to Jiji's recovering parents follows, where news reports the contained wildfire and the arrest of the Kito Family, though their leader Naki remains at large. Evading capture, Naki sheds her disguise and reveals herself as a Subterranean, swearing revenge on Momo for her people. The next day Momo asks Okarun and Aira to sleep over and help mind Jiji, and dinner ends in chaos when a stray drop of soy sauce triggers the Evil Eye into flipping the table.

Notes

The episode bridges the Cursed House Arc into the Evil Eye Arc and adapts Chapters 49 through 52. Jiji hums the opening of Ranma ½, a nod to how cold and hot water reverse his curse much like Ranma Saotome's transformation. Aira faces rejection at school after admitting she spread a false rumor about Momo. The Dover Demon explains he returned to Earth because the cow he was given would not produce milk on his planet.
