Oni Club

Item

The Oni Club is a deceptively small charcoal twig handed to Okarun by Seiko Ayase. Channeling ki transforms the unremarkable stick into a full sized demon weapon, and Momo can boost its size through touch, making it a vital tool during the group's fights with the Serpo.

Overview

Passed from Seiko Ayase to Okarun, the Oni Club is a personal weapon meant to give the young yokai user something to fight with. When dormant it looks like nothing more than a blackened twig or piece of charcoal, an appearance so plain that Okarun first assumed Seiko was making fun of him. Manjiro, who delivered it on Seiko's request, insisted it was a genuine armament and told the boy to keep it close and treat it like a protective talisman.

Function

The weapon stays sealed until ki is poured into it, at which point it expands into its true demonic club form. Okarun struggled at first to hold its shape steadily, yet even an unstable version proved tough enough to turn aside sword strikes and slice off Mr. Dris' arm. Its size can be amplified further when Momo channels her own ki into Okarun through physical contact, a trick that let him cut the mummy clean in half. Despite its tiny resting form, the club is durable enough to survive a fast blade slash without breaking.

Notable Users

Okarun carries the club as his primary weapon, drawing on his ki training to wake it. During the Six Curses Arc he relied on it against Mr. Dris and later used it to rescue Momo from a spinosaurus inside an Empty Space amusement park, gripping her hand to enlarge the blade and knock the dinosaur away. Momo serves as a secondary wielder, feeding her lifelong ki control into Okarun to supercharge the weapon. The club passed through Manjiro's hands during delivery, though he himself was unable to shape it. In folklore terms it nods to the iron kanabo clubs wielded by Japanese oni.
