Seems He Finally Realized She's Cute

Out searching after dark, Momo and Okarun chase the missing balls that Turbo Granny says are sheathed in golden spiritual energy. Having turned up nothing, the granny figures a spirit or yokai has claimed them, drawn by their potent life force. The three head back to the house empty-handed, where Seiko offers to summon help and reminds Okarun to keep Turbo Granny's powers in check. The following day at Kami High, a handful of male classmates approach Okarun hoping to be introduced to Momo. When one calls her cute, Okarun reddens at the same thought surfacing in his mind, then tries to shove the feeling aside, insisting he sees her only as a friend.

A classmate then floats a crude rumor about Momo, and Okarun's anger flips him into his Turbo Granny form by accident, frightening the boy. He composes himself, apologizes, and sits down, only for Turbo Granny to pop out of his backpack, thrilled to have watched him transform in public. Okarun bolts from the room to keep her hidden and rebuffs her attempts to coax her powers back. He grows flustered when Momo shows up, his earlier thoughts rushing back, and unable to meet her eyes, he flees, leaving Turbo Granny loose in the school. Later, Momo hears from her friend Miko that Okarun stood up for her against a student's slander, which stuns her. Elsewhere, the girl Momo dropped a tub on, Aira, recalls deciding Momo was evil after seeing her psychic hands, which drove her to spread the lie. She pulls out a golden ball she found, convinced it is a sign she is destined to save the world.

Momo and Okarun come up empty in their search, and Turbo Granny suspects a spirit has taken the balls. A dirty rumor circulates about Momo, triggering Okarun's transformation as he threatens the boy who asked whether they had slept together. Turbo Granny roams the school grounds.

Okarun realizes Momo is cute. Aira is shown to have witnessed Momo's powers when the washbasin fell on her, which led her to start the rumor, and she believes the golden ball she found was sent from the heavens because of her beauty.

This chapter belongs to Volume 2, the Acrobatic Silky Arc, and the Kintama Hunt Saga. It runs nineteen pages, was released on June 22, 2021, and sits between Chapter 11 and Chapter 13. Its events were adapted in Episode 6 of the anime. Anzu and Tsubame appear in flashback.
