Summary

Lost in a crowd and struggling to recall what she has lost, the spirit of Acrobatic Silky is approached by a young Aira, who mistakes her for her own mother. Once Aira goes back to her father, who urges the girl to stay strong for the mother she lost, Silky convinces herself that she was Aira's living mother and must watch over her, a belief that turns her into a yokai. When Momo witnesses Silky's history, she weeps in sorrow, and Okarun reads the tears as a sign that Silky has pulled something underhanded, leaving him braced to strike her down. Momo stops him, telling him not to hurt the yokai, and watches as Aira is returned to life.

With the revival a success, Silky tells Aira she is sorry for what she did and begins to crumble away. Turbo Granny explains to Momo that, having lost her aura and clinging to regret, Silky will be barred from the afterlife and erased from memory. In her final moments Silky recovers the memories of her real daughter and laments having failed her as a mother. Aira then wraps her in an embrace, calls her mother, and says she loves her, which lets Silky cross peacefully into the afterlife. Moved to tears, Momo hears Aira wish that Silky and her child may reach a far gentler place.

Key Events

Her memories steadily fading, Acrobatic Silky turns into a yokai. Catching sight of her across the crowd, a young Aira leads Silky to mistake the girl for her own daughter, whose mother has in fact died. As Aira is revived, a despairing Silky begins to fall apart. Turbo Granny notes that anyone dying with regrets left unresolved is shut out of Nirvana and instead wiped into nothing. Aira soothes the fading yokai with an embrace and the word mother, and Silky and her daughter move on to a kinder world.
