Summary

Okarun trades a few blows with the Evil Eye, then hurries Momo to the upper level. He warns her the Tsuchinoko plans to flood the lair with venom while lurking underground, and insists she be the one to flee while he deals with Jiji. Momo balks at abandoning him, but his resolve wins her over, and she swears to return for him. Using a chair, Okarun catapults her toward the ceiling and watches her break free.

Okarun then squares off against the Evil Eye as it rises, declaring he will not forgive the harm done to Momo. Above, Momo tries fashioning a rope from the curtains, only to find it falls short of reaching him, leaving her frustrated by the pile of crises stacking up. A childhood memory with Jiji surfaces, sparking a plan, and she acts on it by setting the house on fire.
